The Youth Aid Panel is a program administered by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office and is run by a panel of community volunteers. It provides a second chance for juvenile offenders. Through the involvement and support of local community volunteers and assigned interventions, the Youth Aid Panels hold juveniles accountable for their actions with conditions that focus on community responsibility while facilitating positive outcomes. It is an alternative to being charged criminally. Successful completion of the program means the child will not have a criminal record that can be found through background checks routinely done by colleges and employers. There are 40 active Youth Panels around Montgomery County.
