WHO WE ARE

A Brief History
The AAA Kappa Guide Right Youth Development Program  began in 2004 with the establishment of Kappa Akademy.  Kappa Akademy is a STEM based mentoring program begun by the Kappas of Abington Ambler.  The program grew out of the Delta Academy, a program sponsored by the Valley Forge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.. There was a call from the community to create a similar program for young boys. The Kappas of Abington-Ambler answered that call and Kappa Akademy was born.
The response from the community was overwhelming with over 30 young men and their parents attending the openhouse held at New Bethel AME Church .  There was more to follow.  Upon becoming a fully recognized chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the newly formed Abington-Ambler Alumni Chapter was present a $5000 grant from then State Representative Josh Shapiro.
The additional funding helped the program to expand.  Four new programs were added;  Kappa League, Diamond Dashers Track and Field, Kappa Kickers Chess Club, and Bogey Kids Golf.  The program currently consists of three actively running programs.  Kappa Akademy, Kappa League, and National Kappa League.  In addition,  Abington-Ambler Alumni Chapter’s Guide Right Program has direct engagment with six targeted schools in the Eastern Montgomery County area of Pennsylvania.  The chapter hosts regularly scheduled workshops in the schools as well as supporting the schools minority enrichment programs and activies.
