WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM MEET

Regular meetings occur on the third Sunday of the month from September to June from 3pm-5pm at the Willow Grove Giant, Community Center.

ARE GUIDE RIGHT AND KAPPA LEAGUE THE SAME?

No. The two program names are sometimes used interchangeably. Guide Right is a program for the educational and occupational guidance of youth, Conceived in 1922 by Leon W. Stewart, and suggested at the twelfth Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Guide Right became the fraternity’s national service program. Guide Right encompasses many of our youth-oriented programs such as mentoring, college preparatory programs, and tutoring. However, Kappa League is the flagship initiative of the Guide Right Program.

IS GUIDE RIGHT JUST FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES?

No.  While there is a strong focus on young African American males, Guide Right and Kappa League programs throughout the country have members that reflect the global community of young men.

WHAT IS KAPPA LEAGUE?

Kappa League, formally known as the Kappa Instructional Leadership League, is the national youth initiative of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Kappa League focuses on training young men of color (but not exclusive to) 6th-12th grade for leadership, achievement, and service in every field of human endeavor. Strong emphasis is placed upon personal development, academic achievement and college and career preparation.

WHAT IS KAPPA AKADEMY?

Kappa Akademy is a STEM-based, mentorship program developed to stimulate an early interest in technology-based fields of study by exposing students to applied science, math, and technology, while mentoring them in life-skills.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN KAPPA LEAGUE AND KAPPA AKADEMY?

Kappa Akademy mentors boys 8-13 while Kappa League welcomes young men ages 13 – 18.

IS THE GOAL OF KAPPA LEAGUE TO HAVE ITS MEMBERS BECOME KAPPA’S?

No. The goal of Kappa League is to train and produce more achieving young men of color that will become leaders of impact and influence in today’s society.
